July 22 2010 Slowly returning to normal. We have lost about 2 days a week on transfer of health coverage phone calls and paperwork. Remember I have a NI child and there can be no break in coverage, nuff said, first priority. We also discovered there is a lot of added paperwork with anything to do with banking and everything else from purchasing TP on up to federal tax ID forms due to the Patriot Act. FYI and to answer some questions about the building. It dates back to the Civil War days and was a tomato canning operation that used prisoners from the war to do the work. Sure beats getting shot at. No, we do not occupy the entire building. There is an active antique center that has most of the space. We have the front portion on the first floor. Yes the safe is real and was used in the Seneca Cannery business for payroll and it is very cool indeed and considering the prices of some brass and sound locos it could serve a purpose. Another question answered, all of the extra help we had in NJ with web work and shop work obviously stayed in NJ.
July 8 2010 If it can take more time it will. Move of home and most of shop went ok. Home loaded up on the 29th and shop after that. Last on first off. Movers had to shift contents on the trucks to balance the weight so it became last on last off. Shop contents, office part loaded off at house and then moved to shop in small groups. Computers and all of the electronics went in my car so we could at least set up phone and the "system". Still had line issues in the building for a few days. House move in took priority through Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday were used up on the phone with UPS old to new in worldship, re assign phone lines, set up CC machine and faxing out tax forms all over the country. We found out that no matter how you try, a massive amount of set up, transfer, and paperwork HAS TO BE DONE from the new location with everything in front of you and calls made from the actual location phone number. Verizon shut down in NJ had to be done from that phone line and we could not get the numbers forwarded so we opted to place the generic "number has changed" message on 732-842-8644 only. The fax line and 732-842-6435 have been cut with no closing ceremony or thanks for over 20 years of service. Just tossed to the curb like yesterdays news. All incoming shipments have arrived with no break in service and we got the first UPS daily pick up out the door July 7. As we planned and will stick to it, first priority is to fill advance orders that have arrived and place new advance orders. Packing and shipping area is first on the list to finish set up. The office will be located in a different spot than originally planned. I have decided to place my desk so I can look out the window at the NEC bridge. Rank has it's privileges. Next up is the parts room.
June 22 2010 Got a lot of extra help and most inventory is in HdG about a week sooner than we wanted but you never refuse good moving help.

June 16, 2010 Yes we are moving both the business and home to Havre de Grace Maryland at the end of June. A few answers to some of the most asked questions. This is a planned decision that we want to do, not a move by force. The old phone numbers will not move with us. We are moving to a brick and mortar building in a downtown business district and will set up a showroom area. First and foremost: Before we open the door to the public your advance orders arriving and placing of new advance orders will take top priority.
From June 14 forward we will be in and out of NJ location handling all of the details of both moves, kids to college, kid to apartment, permits, CO's, insurance, notices, and most important..... uninterrupted health care coverage!
